OBSERVO is a love letter to classic survival horror games of the early 2000s, with a focus on atmospheric horror, puzzle solving, and light combat.
You play as Edgar, a man on a business trip to a small town who has to find a place to spend the night at the last minute. He comes across this one roadside inn that, while looking a little worse for wear, it has a friendly manager, clean sheets and warm water, so he doesn't think much of it. However, when strange things start happening around him and Edgar suddenly finds himself in real danger, his next objective then becomes escaping from that place while he still can…
But it won't be that easy.
Observo originally started out as a student game project in 2018, and it has since evolved into a fully fleshed-out game built in Unreal Engine 4.
It's made as a love letter to survival horror games of the early 2000s, an attempt at recapturing the atmosphere of that era with a lot of effort put towards replicating the look and feel of PS2 horror games – both graphics and UI-wise – with just a few modern "cheats" in order to make everything look better. Simplistic graphics, fixed camera angles, limited inventory, plenty of puzzles and a haunting soundtrack are part of Observo's experience, which should please both players nostalgic for a bygone era of survival horror, as well as new players that are simply looking for a good horror game to enjoy.
